Ahh, books! From preschool story hour to present-day library trips to the iconic floor-to-ceiling bookshelves the Beast presented Belle, I’ve long loved books. In fact, my parents had a floor-to-ceiling bookcase in their house where I grew up, and my mom was a voracious reader. She worked at a small-town library for over twenty years before retiring. No wonder I picked up a love of literature.
My favorite genre is Christian fiction. I love reading, but if I don’t find hope, I give up on a novel. Hope is the ingredient that breathes life into story. Other Christian themes are also important, like: redemption, nobility, truth, kindness, morality. I love stories that contrast darkness with light, those that affirm biblical faith without preaching. Fiction like that can change people’s lives; I’ve experienced that turnaround myself. I believe that’s why Jesus taught in parables. We are part of His story because he invites us in and freely shares His peace, love, victory, hope, life with whoever is willing. And He’s writing each of our stories.
Locations and the beauty of nature inspire me. I like to share that sense of wonder and enjoyment with my readers. I set my Washington Island Romance series in the Salish Sea and Puget Sound in Washington State. Readers visit beaches and even go on whale tours and kayaking trips with my characters. It’s a virtual vacation for those who don’t live in the Pacific Northwest, a chance to escape to beach houses and dive into hope-filled stories of second chances.

After I finished that series with my Finding Love on Whidbey Island, Washington novel, I felt it would be fun to revisit that island. My novella “A Christmas Duet” is now available as an individually packaged sequel to my Whidbey novel. This novella was previously part of the Melodies of Christmas Love boxed set, released in October 2020. “A Christmas Duet” is the first in my spin-off series, Washington Island Christmas Romance. In addition to my series, you may want to check out my short stories: Husband Material and Her Nerdy Cowboy. They’re both available for 99 cents on Amazon. See more info on my Books page.
My publisher collected the first books in several of her authors’ series into the I Choose You boxed set. This is a collection of seven full-length novels, including my Friday Harbor story, for a low price. She also included my book Finding Love on Bainbridge Island, Washington in the anthology: Finding Love In… Romance Collection. There are four full-length novels in that collection, again, at a low price. Free on Kindle Unlimited!
When I’m not editing for clients, or writing my own manuscripts, you’ll often find me reading for review. I love supporting fellow authors and sharing recommendations with readers. Pop over to my Net’s Book Notes blog for my latest reviews of many genres in Christian fiction.
